Westmeath Council discusses wind turbine applications today

An opposition campaign has already begun in the areas where the turbines are planned for.

A special meeting of Westmeath County Council is being held today to discuss an application for wind turbines.

Planning permission was submitted in the past number of weeks to build 9 turbines near Moate.

The Umma More Renewable Energy Development want to build the turbines at a height of 185 metres, in the Ballymore, Drumraney, and Moyvoughley areas.
