A massive forest fire in west Roscommon has caused "huge devastation", according to the county's first citizen.
Hundreds of acres of forestry and bogs were destroyed in the blaze yesterday.
It broke out in Gortaganny at around 2pm and spread over a wide area.

It was still burning last night despite the best efforts of fire services from throughout the region.
