Michael Holland Senior says he'll be a full-time politician following his selection to replace the late Anthony Waldron on Roscommon County Council.
The Ballintubber man won the backing of 13 of 17 councillors at a special meeting of the local authority this afternoon.
Anthony Waldron died in February and his family voiced their preference for Holland, from Ballintubber, to replace him on the Independent benches.
