Vehicle caught driving at 30km/h above speed limit in Carrick, as National Slow Down Day continues

Today is National Slow Down Day, with gardai out in force clamping down on those breaking the law.

A driver has been caught motoring along at almost 30 kilometres an hour above the speed limit in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Gardai detected the vehicle going at 89km/h in a 60km/h on the N4 at Drishoge on the Boyle Road.

Today is National Slow Down Day, with gardai out in force clamping down on those breaking the law.

Between 7am and 5pm, gardai detected 170 vehicles travelling over the speed limit.

Over 90,000 vehicles were speed-checked during this 10-hour period and the operation continues until 7am tomorrow.
