A Ukrainian man charged with an assault causing serious harm in the early hours of New Year's Day, which resulted in the death of a man in Ballaghaderreen, has been further remanded on bail pending DPP directions.
The court previously heard that Yevhen Shutko (46), with an address at Loughlynn, Co. Roscommon, was claiming self-defence when charged with the alleged assault.
Shutko is charged with assault which led to the death of Jorden Newin on New Year's Day.
Following the alleged incident, the 39-year-old was transferred to Sligo University Hospital and then to Beaumont Hospital, where he later died.
His reply when charged in January by Garda Brendan McGrath was, "it was definitely not intentional, I was defending myself".
He was granted bail in January by Judge James Faughnan at Ballaghaderreen District Court when independent surety and bail money amounting to €3,000 were furnished to the court.
Sergeant Mark Mahon, for the state, informed the court that DPP directions were still awaited and the accused man was further remanded on bail to July 10th.
