U-turn on blister packs for vulnerable patients welcomed locally

The government initially decided the state would not cover the cost of the packs for medicines.

A Leitrim councillor is welcoming a U-turn on plans to charge seriously ill people for blister packs in pharmacies.

The government initially decided the state would not cover the cost of the packs for medicines.

But the HSE and the Irish Pharmacy Union has now struck a deal - which will see blister packs paid for by the state for vulnerable patients.
