The Continental tyre company has urged the public against burning tyres on bonfires this Halloween.
It says the practice is illegal and also throws up toxic fumes that can hurt both humans and animals.
The company says the only safe way to burn tyres presently is inside a cement kiln which has a sophisticated filtration system.

Tyres can also be recycled in a number of ways, it added.
