Two men in their 20s have been seriously injured in a road collision on the N4 overnight.
Emergency services attended the scene in Rathowen Village, Westmeath at 2.30am.
The two male occupants of the vehicle, have been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore with serious injuries.
The village is currently closed to traffic to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road is expected to remain closed for most of the day.
Diversions are in place and those travelling between Longford and Mullingar are advised to plan their journey accordingly.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact them.
