Cocaine to the value of €11,000 has been seized and two men were arrested in Athlone earlier this week.
As part of a routine checkpoint on the Dublin Road in the town on Monday. Gardaí stopped a car.
After becoming suspicious of the vehicle, a search was conducted under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The driver of the car and passenger, both men, were brought to Athlone Garda Station where they were searched.
They have since been released without charge pending a file to the DPP.
Investigations are ongoing.
