A man and a woman have been arrested following a drug seizure in the midlands.
As part of Operation Tara, Tullamore Gardaí seized suspected illegal cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy with an estimated total value of €545,400 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on Tuesday.
During the course of a search under warrant, Gardaí from Community Engagement Tullamore, Offaly Drugs Unit and members from Tullamore Detective Unit seized 7.5kg of cocaine (with a value of approximately of €525,000); 1kg of cannabis (with a value of approximately of €20,000) and ecstasy (with a value of approximately of €400).
A man and a woman, both aged in their 40’s, were arrested in connection with the investigation, and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda station in the Co. Offaly area.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
