A local university has received planning permission to add a significant number of new parking spaces to their midlands base.
The Technological University of the Shannon had sought planning permission to construct a large temporary car parking facility near their Athlone campus on the Dublin Road.
Under plans submitted to Westmeath County Council, the University would construct 195 car parking spaces with a new entrance onto the existing road network at the Athlone Business Park.

Also included in the application is new fencing, gates, public landscaping and all associated site works.
County planners approved the permission with 3 conditions attached, one setting the lifespan of the development to 5 years.
