Turnout in Presidential Election slow so far across the Shannonside region

Polling stations close at 10pm tonight.

Turnout in the Presidential election is being reported as slow in many parts of the Shannonside region. Polls opened at 7am and will close at 10pm. In Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, the turnout is currently around 9% whilst it's around 5% in Carrick on Shannon.

It was 8 per cent in Rooskey shortly after 11 o'clock this morning.

In Strokestown, Co. Roscommon , the turnout is close to 5% whilst it's around 3% in Boyle. People have three choices on the ballot paper - Independent Catherine Connolly, Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys and Fianna Fáil's Jim Gavin. Everyone must bring ID to be able to vote however polling cards aren't required. Polling stations close at 10pm tonight.
