Tributes paid to Rooskey GAA stalwart after road tragedy

Padraig Nugent died in a single-vehicle incident in Culleenmore, Kilglass, early yesterday morning.

Tributes are being paid to the popular north Roscommon man who died in a road traffic incident yesterday.

Padraig Nugent, from Kilglass, was aged in his 50s and was a stalwart of Kilglass Gaels GAA club.

The club said: "Padraig was part of our 1999 winning team that captured the Intermediate title.

"He played with the club at all levels and last year he enjoyed celebrating the 25 year anniversary of the 1999 winning team.

"Padraig was well known for his aerial dominance and his very unique soloing and kicking style!

"We all have many memories of Padraig and we are very saddened by his untimely passing.
"We are holding his mum Ann, sisters Geraldine, Trisha and Helen, his cherished children Megan & Ryan, their mum Claire and all his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time."
