Tributes are being paid to Boyle businessman Barry Feely, following his passing on Monday. Mr Feely along with his brother Pat developed their stone business, Feelystone to be one of the largest in Ireland after taking over from their father, Henry. He wrote two books 'They Dared to Challenge in the Garrison Town of Boyle' and 'We are the survivors. Boyle workhouse & emigration and famine times.' He also held many roles within the community, initiating the Boyle Civic Collection alongside the late Fergus Ahern, purchasing selected art pieces which ultimately formed part of the annual Boyle Arts Festival event.
He also served many roles with Boyle GAA Club and held the role of honorary president at the time of his passing. Barry Feely is survived by his wife Ursula, children Rhona, Colin, Ciara, Finbarr and Shane. The late Mr Feely's funeral mass takes place in St Joseph's Church in Boyle on Wednesday at 12 noon.
