The €4 daily transport charge for people with disabilities attending day services in Cavan, Monaghan, Sligo, and Donegal is set to be removed.
The HSE has allocated €250,000 for the remainder of 2025, with an additional €500,000 secured from 2026 to permanently cover the cost.
Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley confirmed the funding will be used to eliminate the charge and make essential transport services more affordable and accessible across the Northwest and Midwest.
Local Minister and Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin says it’s a big step towards equality and improved access for those affected.
