Motorists on the N4 approaching Carrick on Shannon are being warned of traffic delays on approach to the town ahead of a large funeral which is due to take place on Thursday morning.
It's understood that garda checkpoints were in operation on the N4 this afternoon ahead of the funeral which is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Local reports suggest a large group of people have also been observed in the town in the last number of hours ahead of the funeral.

Last month several hundred people attended a funeral in the town with locals expressing concern over possible breaches of Covid or public health guidelines at the time.
