Party members in the Granard Local Electoral Area will decide who will replace Paraic Brady, who was elected to the Seanad recently.

Three candidates will battle it out for Paraic Brady’s vacant Longford county council seat next week.
Fine Gael is holding a selection convention next Thursday night in Colmcille Community Centre in Aughnacliffe, after the former councillor was elected to the Seanad.

The three people nominated are the senator's brother, Cian Brady, former councillor Colin Dalton who lost his seat by a handful of votes in the June local elections, and Granard-based Kathleen McGahern, who was a member of the Longford-Westmeath Education and Training Board, and former Secretary of the Community Employment scheme.
Party members in the Granard Local Electoral Area will vote and select a candidate to fill Senator Brady's seat at its convention on April 3rd.
