The Taoiseach says he hopes to re-engage with former local politician Eugene Murphy.
Murphy left Fianna Fáil last year after they didn't add him to their General Election ticket in Roscommon-Galway.
He was unsuccessful as an Independent candidate and also lost his Seanad seat earlier this year.
