Taoiseach expects lots of visitors at Ballyleague National Accessibility Centre

Leo Varadkar was commenting this morning on his recent visit to the Lough Ree Access for All centre.

The Taoiseach says he expects people will visit the National Accessibility Centre for water sports in Ballyleague from outside Ireland.

Leo Varadkar was commenting this morning on his recent visit to the Lough Ree Access for All centre which has been running from the past few years.

Mr Varadkar said he hadn't previously known that the centre is the only one of its kind in Ireland and the UK and he believes it will make a fundamental difference in people's lives.

He says the centre should certainly draw people from the UK to use the unique facilities there.

'It's the Lough Ree access for All and one thing I didn't know is that it is the only place in Britain and Ireland that wheelchair users can get on a boat and go out on the river and engage in angling and  water sports and go for a swim.

For those of us who are able bodied we don't think about those things it's quite complicated to get on a boat if you are wheelchair user and this is a really big improvement and really glad to see it happening in the Midlands.
