Tánaiste's delay in visiting Lough Funshinagh defended

Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy says work is continuing behind the scenes to find a solutiion

A local Senator has defended the Tánaiste's delay in meeting with flood-affected residents in South Roscommon. Micheál Martin's office confirmed yesterday that he would visit Lough Funshinagh at the end of next month. It comes as two families were recently forced from their homes due to rising water levels in nearby Curraghboy. Local resident and councillor Laurence Fallon earlier expressed his disappointment that the visit wouldn't take place until 31st May.

However, Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy says Micheál Martin has a number of engagements this month as Foreign Affairs Minister. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said work would continue behind the scenes to find a solution to the ongoing crisis:
