Tanaiste urges employers to support work from home requests

The Tanaiste says it's "nonsense" to suggest everyone should have a legal right to work from home.

The Tanaiste says employers must have a "very good reason" for refusing a request from employees to work from home.

Under the new draft legislation, people who ask to work remotely and are turned down can appeal to the Workplace Relations Commission.

Reasons for rejecting a request include too much distance between the home and office, concerns over data protection, and concerns about internet connection.
