A strong objection has been lodged against a planned 24-hour gym and major housing development in Carrick-on-Shannon.
A Lanesborough man is raising serious traffic concerns.
This planning application was recently lodged with Leitrim County Council by AEA Investment Holdings Padraig Carroll.
It relates to a vacant three-storey office building, called the Western Way, on the Dublin Road in Attifinlay, which is the Longford side of Carrick.
A 24-gym would be developed on the ground floor.
Accommodation would be developed overhead, on the first and second floors.
This includes 26 apartments, for residential use, and 29 suites, for letting.
The council is due to decide whether to give the plans the green light next month.
But Andrew Donlon, from Derrglash, Lanesborough, Co Longford, has lodged a strong objection, largely based on traffic concerns.
He says it will bring a large and constant volume of extra traffic into an area that's already struggling to cope.
He says the road network in the area is already failing, and adding development of this scale into such conditions is not reasonable.
He urges the council to refuse permission for this development.
