Status Orange wind warning issued for Leitrim

Disruption to power and travel are likely.

A status orange wind warning has been issued for Leitrim from 8pm tonight.

High waves, storm surges and high tide, coastal flooding is expected.

The warning is valid until 8am tomorrow morning.

More than 33 thousand homes are without power across the country as Storm Barra hits Ireland.

Cork and Kerry, which are under a status red wind warning, are the most impacted along Donegal, Wicklow and Laois.

Clare will come under a red alert from 4 o clock this afternoon.

Orange warnings are in place along the west, south and east coasts.
