A local councillor has called for action from local and national HSE management after a serious concerns were raised at a state run care home in Longford. A HIQA inspection carried out last November at St Joseph's Care Centre on the Dublin Road in Longford Town described a significant decline in compliance over the last year. In their report, the service was found to be non compliant in eight regulations, substantially compliant in four and fully compliant in just three areas.
These non compliance areas included staffing, training, management, healthcare and protection and residents. The care centre provides 24 hour care for up to 65 residents of varying needs such as dementia, brain injury and respite care.
