Local Minister Robert Troy says he will continue to highlight staff shortages at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar. A newly released HIQA report highlighted serious concerns over staffing levels at the local hospital. An inspection conducted in October last year found four of the nine executive management positions were unfilled and had the potential to affect future governance and healthcare delivery.
The high level vacancies included quality and patient safety manager, director of midwifery, operations and clinical services manager and a human resources manager. Minister Troy says he will raise the issue with the Minister for Health to ensure there is adequate staffing levels at the hospital:
