Some local forest owners will lose at least 100,000 euro each, due to the recent fires. Hundreds of acres of forestry has been destroyed in a major blaze in west Roscommon over the past two days.
There have also been other fires throughout the region, including in Rooskey yesterday. Derek McCabe is the chairman of the Irish Forest Owners - he says these blazes can be very costly:
