Sligo hospital sees increase in Freedom of Information requests in 2025

The Freedom of Information Act 2014 allows you to request access to information that is not otherwise publicly available.

Sligo University Hospital saw a 42 per cent increase in Freedom of Information requests in 2025 compared to a year previously.
The Freedom of Information Act 2014 allows you to request access to information that is not otherwise publicly available.
In some situations, the information may be redacted or withheld.
The figures were released as part of a response to Sligo-based Cllr Declan Bree at this month's meeting of the Regional Health Forum West.

379 requests were received at Sligo University Hospital in 2024, with 488 granted which included requests brought forward from the previous year.
2025 saw 540 requests, with 471 granted which included requests brought forward from the previous year.
The number of medical record requests submitted to Sligo University Hospital has increased significantly in recent years.
It rose by approximately 40 per cent between 2022 and 2024, and by a further 30 per cent from 2024 to 2025.
