A local hospital is the second busiest in the country today, according to the latest trolley watch figures from the INMO.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says over 500 patients were waiting for a bed at facilities nationwide.
Sligo University Hospital is the busiest in the region and second busiest in the country today, with 58 people waiting for bed.
This includes 36 in the emergency department and 22 elsewhere in the hospital.
Meanwhile, there are 20 patients on trolleys at Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar including 15 in the emergency department.
Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe is also busy with 11 patients without a bed including five in the emergency department and six waiting elsewhere in the hospital.
Nationally, there are 546 patients waiting for a bed in hospitals today.
University Hospital Limerick is the busiest facility in the country with 96 people waiting on trolleys.
