Local hospital overcrowding continues

Over 40 admitted patients were on trolleys in local hospitals this morning.

There were 38 waiting at Sligo University Hospital, with 3 in the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

University Hospital Limerick accounts for the largest number of those, with 76 followed by Cork University Hospital with 64.and 58 at University Hospital Galway.

Of the total number of people waiting for beds, 341 were in emergency departments while 140 were in wards elsewhere, according to the INMO.
