Sinn Féin TDs stage Dáil walk out during Special Criminal Court vote

Criticisms of the institution include the lack of a jury and the increasing use of the court to try crimes other than terrorist cases

Sinn Féin TDs have staged a walk-out in the Dáil during the annual vote on legislation to extend the powers of the Special Criminal Court.

During last night's voting block, Sinn Féin TDs vacated the chamber ahead of the vote.

The party abstained last year - but previously had always opposed the legislation on the Special Criminal Court.
