Significant increase in calls to childline over self harm issues

The ISPCC is highlighting the issue to the Oireachtas today.

Over 900 young people have contacted Childline about thoughts of self-harm over the past year.

About 26 children have contacted them every week about suicide, including people actively considering taking their own lives.

The ISPCC will tell an Oireachtas committee today children have become more withdrawn since the pandemic.
