The Shannonside Region is recording some of the coldest temperatures nationwide as the cold snap continues.
The Met Eireann Weather station at Mount Dillon in Roscommon recorded a level of minus 7 and a half degrees overnight.
That increased to minus 5 degrees as of the last hour, the third coldest temperature behind Ballyhaise in Cavan and Markree Castle in Sligo

A new orange weather alert for ice and cold temperatures will come into effect for 19 counties from 6 o'clock this evening.
The existing nationwide yellow alert also remains in place until Friday.
