The Labour Party is calling for workers to have the legal right to work remotely - not just the right to request it, as they do at the moment.

Some people in the Shannonside region are spending the equivalent of 100 working days a year travelling to work.

That's according to Sinn Fein TD for Longford-Westmeath, Sorca Clarke.

But Employment Minister Peter Burke says the government opposes Labour's bill.

The Longford-Westmeath TD is defending the government's current laws around the right to request remote working:
