Shannonside householders advised to ensure waste collectors have valid waste pemit

Householders in the Shannonside Northern Sound region are being advised to ensure that any waste collectors they use have valid waste permits.

It follows reports of a number of advertisements of people willing to conduct odd jobs like grass cutting or painting and then offering to take waste away.

However, there are cases where people have taken away rubbish but dumped it illegally.

Environment Officer at Longford County Council, Gary Brady says they have a number of successful prosecutions.
