Roscommon County Council will host a number of self-build wind turbine and electric vehicle maintenance courses this year.
The courses are funded by the EU Just Transition Fund and run in conjunction with Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board.
Ten participants graduated from the first wind turbine course in the county last month.
Over a four-week period graduates learn how to build a domestic wind turbine from scratch using the Hug Piggott turbine design.
Barry Tapster is the Climate Action Officer with Roscommon County Council.
He says another wind turbine course will commence next month
Barry says the local authority is also keen on training up electric vehicle mechanics:
And Roscommon Town Sustainable Energy Community will be launching its Energy Master Plan this evening at The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon.
Members of the public are invited to the event at 6 o'clock where they can have a free review of their electricity bill by an independent expert.
There will also be a vendor showcase with local providers of sustainable energy solutions as well as a decarbonisation zone presentation by Roscommon County Council.
