A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash between a truck and a car near the Longford-Westmeath border. A woman was also hospitalised after the collision. A section of the N4 was closed last night for a technical examination however it has now reopened this morning. A truck and a car collided on the N4 at Ballinalack shortly after 1.30 yesterday afternoon.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital in Dublin and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. A female passenger in the car, aged in her 50s, was brought to Tullamore hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Gardai are appealing for witnesses, or those with camera footage, to come forward.
