Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N4 at Ballinafid, Co. Westmeath on Sunday 15th March 2026.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision which occurred shortly after 0:50am.
A male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The N4 between Mullingar and Rathowen, Co. Westmeath is currently closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N4 near Ballinafid, Co. Westmeath between 0:30am and 1:10am on Sunday 15th March 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
