The Seanad has heard the need for additional support for preservation of a heritage site in county Roscommon. In late January, the award-winning initiative, which has supported 90 farmers in managing more than 260 archaeological sites over the past eight years announced it was to cease operations.
Despite repeated efforts, the project says state agencies responsible for heritage have provided little financial backing. Local Senator Gareth Scahill feels the impact of Rathcroghan cannot be understated:
