The Seanad has heard the need for the Farming Rathcroghan Project to remain open. In late January, the award-winning initiative, which has supported 90 farmers in managing more than 260 archaeological sites over the past eight years announced it was to cease operations.
Despite repeated efforts, the project says state agencies responsible for heritage have provided little financial backing. Local Fine Gael Senator, Gareth Scahill says if closed. it would have a number of knock-on effects:
