A local councillor says a reduction in speed limits on the old N5 is impacting local residents.
Sean Moylan says the reclassification of a bypassed section of the road near Frenchpark is a 'backwards step'.
The Fianna Fáil representative raised the issue at a recent meeting of Boyle Muncipal District.
It follows the opening of a section of the new Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue bypass last month.
