A former TD says he agrees with Transport Infrastructure Ireland's assessment of a dangerous local crossroads.
It comes after the state agency said Scramogue Cross was not a high-collision location and that road markings and signage are consistent with current requirements.
TII rejected calls from Roscommon councillors to take immediate action at the N5 junction.
Responding to the local authority this week, it said further improvements are planned at the crossing as part of the ongoing N5 upgrade.
It followed a notice of motion by Cllr Tom Crosby calling on the agency to carry out safety works.
