A local TD believes the next general election will take place in the spring of next year. There has been a lot of speculation that the election will be called shortly after the delivery of the Budget.
However, Taoiseach Simon Harris has maintained that the government will see out the full term until early next year. Roscommon-Galway TD Denis Naughten believes the current government still has a number of issues to address including Lough Funshinagh in south Roscommon:
