Roscommon TD describes 63 week waiting time for audiology appointments unacceptable

People in Roscommon need to wait approximately 63 weeks to get an appointment for audiology services. The wait time was confirmed to Roscommon-Galway TD

People in Roscommon need to wait approximately 63 weeks to get an appointment for audiology services.

The wait time was confirmed to Roscommon-Galway TD Claire Kerrane after she was contacted by a man suffering from hearing issues and she subsequently contacted the HSE.

Over three hundred children are currently waiting for an audiology appointment in CHO2 which covers Roscommon Galway and Mayo according to information from the HSE.

Over two hundred adults are also waiting over a year for an appointment.

A new centre for audiology services in Roscommon is due to open in the coming weeks after the service, which was based at the Clonbrusk Primary Care Centre earlier this year,  had to be moved due to Covid 19.

The Sinn Fein TD says the situation is unacceptable :
