A local TD is calling for further mortgage breaks to be developed for people struggling to pay their mortgages.
Sinn Féin TD for Roscommon/Galway Claire Kerrane wants the Minister for Finance to engage with lenders in order to provide payment break extensions without additional interest for borrowers.
Previously Irish borrowers had availed of six-month breaks but the Roscommon TD is hoping for longer-term help for people suffering from financial stress.

She says that due to level 5 restrictions, many people are now unemployed again and urgent action is required to remove the additional pressure of strict repayment terms :
