Roscommon survey reveals girls more likely to report mental health issues

It follows a survey which shows one third of 15 and 16-year-olds in Roscommon have self-harmed at least once.

It follows a survey which shows one third of 15 and 16-year-olds in Roscommon have self-harmed at least once.
One in eight have done so more than five times, according to the figures from the Western Region Drug and Alcohol Task Force.

The Planet Youth survey was carried out among 659 teenagers in Roscommon.
Emmet Major is the co-ordinator of the Planet Youth project under the region's task force.
He says there's a difference between how boys and girls report mental health issues:
