A Roscommon student has been announced as the Connacht winner in the Houses of Oireachtas Treaty Debates competition.
Michael Moran who is a student at Roscommon CBS was announced as first place winner for his essay on Daniel O'Rourke a local TD between 1921 and 1951.
He was also the great grandfather of recently crowned world boxing champion Lisa O'Rourke and president of the GAA.

The Roscommon TY student travelled to Leinster House in Dublin earlier this week to receive his certificate from Cathaoirleach and Senator Mark Daly.
