Roscommon County Council has given the go-ahead for a large solar farm near Carrick-on-Shannon.
The local authority has given the project planning permission, subject to 31 conditions.
Elgin Energy Services looked for planning permission for this solar farm on a 93-acre site just off the Boyle Road in Carrick-on-Shannon.
It would be located on the townlands of Meera and Tullyleague, near Carrick Quads.
As well as photovoltaic panels, it would have an electricity substation, inverter stations and CCTV cameras.
The solar farm would have a lifespan of 40 years.
Elgin told the council it's an Irish solar energy company, with 21 projects across the UK, providing clean energy to 75,000 homes a year.
It has also got planning permission for 23 projects in Ireland.

One of the 31 conditions attached to the grant of planning is a development contribution of 180,000 euro, which must be paid before construction starts.
