Roscommon native begins mammoth cycle to Australia today

25 year old Fergal Guihen from Arigna will attempt to cycle 23,000KM from Roscommon to Australia.

A Roscommon native is beginning a mammoth journey across the world today.

25 year old Fergal Guihen from Arigna will cycle 23,000KM from Roscommon to Australia, taking a total of 11 months to complete the challenge. Fergal, who is a general nurse in Sligo Hospital, is undertaking the challenge to raise money for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice. He hopes to reach his final destination, Sydney Opera House, in February of 2025 and says he is taking a minimalistic approach to his journey:
