Roscommon Council CE won't seek contract extension

The Cathoirleach of Roscommon County Council says he's disappointed the Chief Executive Eugene Cummins won't be renewing his contract with the local authority.

Mr Cummins told councillors over a zoom meeting on Thursday he would not be seeking to extend his tenure when it expires in September.

Councillor Joe Murphy paid tribute to the Council Chief who he says was a driving force behind the regeneration of many towns throughout the county.

I suppose everyone was a little bit taken aback, and a little bit disappointed. I believe that our chief executive has been a great driving force over his seven years here.

He has had a brilliant vision for Roscommon as a county as a whole.
