Roscommon coroner issues cocaine warning after it contributes to another man's death

Coroner Brian O’Connor said this is unfortunately another inquest which has come before him in the past month, in which a young man has taken cocaine and alcohol.

The Roscommon coroner is warning young people about the danger of cocaine after it was linked to yet another death.

Brian O’Connor was speaking at the inquest of an 18-year-old man who died by suicide behind a nightclub in Ballaghaderreen.

Roscommon Coroner’s Court heard how cocaine intoxication was a contributory factor in his death.

Coroner O’Connor said this is unfortunately another inquest which has come before him in the past month, in which a young man has taken cocaine and alcohol.

He said it’s a well-established medical fact that a combination of alcohol with cocaine will impair a person’s judgement.

He said let this be another warning to others, particularly to young people, of the consequences of abusing drugs and alcohol.
